I saw you...beautiful grad student or professor (late 20s?). I was feeling really down and buried in my computer on a bench in building 4, but I took a moment to look up and see that beautiful smile you gave me. It felt like you were just telling me to keep it up even though life is tough. Thanks for making my day a little brighter.

    Why does the mask of anonymity make people so mean? OP was just trying to say a genuine thank you to a stranger who brightened his day. I, for one, appreciate that.

    I don't know if it's me or not. I'm always in Building 4. In my late 20s. And smiling at people on that bench. And even if it wasn't me you saw, it's nice to know that theoretically, a friendly look can improve someone's day.

    Here's another smile, hopefully it improves your day again, or if it wasn't me the first time, then hopefully it just improves your day. :)
